Community Engagement

Stephanie Urdang dedicated her life to helping America’s vulnerable populations. Before she passed away in 2012 of Cancer, CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE UNIVERSITY Film students celebrated her life with this film.

Through the Independent Filmmaking track, students regularly use production techniques and practices for social good and to help vulnerable individuals. In doing so, CCSU filmmakers are exposed to and explore critical situations, individuals and dilemmas. Thereafter, through production, artistic investigation and proliferation, they engage.

In these courses, students identify issues and seek tangible outcomes through the creation of online micro-campaigns.  In doing so, they develop imagery, messages and investigate the power of social media through the production process.   These online initiatives have recruited thousands of participants while also raising aid and goods for vulnerable individuals/families in CT.
